There wouldn’t be a TechMedic without Kris Branco, TechMedic’s head technician. For nearly 20 years he worked with The Wireless Experience, one of the top wireless retailers in the Northeast. There, he saw countless customers who relied on their insurance plans to replace damaged phones. That’s when it hit him.

“I realized we could fix these phones for less than it cost to replace them. We talked and realized this is something that could be big for everyone, especially our customers,” he explains. “For people without insurance or whose device is not under warranty, the savings could be huge.”

And so TechMedic was born. Kris received formal training in device repair with iGeneration, but he’s always had an affinity for working with electronics. His first computer was a Commodore 64 when he was seven years old. It didn’t take him long to start putting together his own computers and tinkering with other electronics. Now, he puts his skills and those of his team to work helping the public.

At TechMedic, he runs the show. His job is to ensure the team is responsive and up on the latest technology. “I handle the day to day operations of the business. When it comes to TechMedic, the bucks stops with me.”

One of the biggest obstacles he helps customers overcome is the wealth of bad or incomplete information found on the Internet, which gives many a skewed sense of what it takes to keep their devices running. “What they see online is only a small part of what actually takes place with tech repairs,” he says, “so it’s my job and my team’s job to help them understand why TechMedic is their best choice to get the problem fixed.”

If there is a problem with an electronic device, chances are Kris has seen it. If you’re unlucky enough to have a device go south on you, he has some advice: “Don’t attempt to do something you’re not comfortable with. Sometimes when people have a problem, they fiddle around trying to fix it and they make it worse. They had good intentions, but it could have been solved with a simple phone call to us.”
